Fines and harsh criticism from authorities for failing to follow safety instructions, this was the punishment for the producers of the film Rust, a filmmaker whose shot was shot to death during filming by actor Alec Baldwin.
Rust manufacturers have shown “clear indifference to the known dangers associated with the use of firearms in shooting,” said the New Mexico Department of the Environment.
This department has fined Rust manufacturing firm $ 136,793. On October 21, 2021, during filming Baldwin fired what was supposed to be a non-hazardous weapon, leaving Ukrainian-born cinematographer Halyna Hutchins dead, while recording Joel Souza was injured.
Baldwin denied responsibility for the fatal shooting. “I think someone is responsible for what happened and I can not say who it is. But I know it’s not me“, He said during an interview with the American broadcaster ABC on December 2 last year. The actor had stated that he was informed that the weapon he used was “safe”, when in fact, she had ammunition.
