The G7 welcomed Kosovo’s decision to impose sanctions on Russia over its unprovoked invasion of Ukraine, and called on Serbia to do the same.
Serbia is the only country in the Western Balkans region that has not followed the example of the European Union and the United States to impose sanctions on Russia.
Belgrade has said it supports Ukraine’s sovereignty, but will not impose sanctions on Russia.
The G7 – which includes the United States, Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy and Japan – also said they supported the European perspective of the six Balkan states, stressing that they strongly support the launch of EU-Macedonia membership negotiations. of Northern Albania.
