Tuesday’s attack on a Texas school that left 19 students dead is the latest in a string of mass attacks in the United States.

BUFFALO, May 14, 2022 – A gunman shot and killed 10 African-Americans inside a supermarket in a racially motivated attack. He was arrested and is being held in prison.
NEW YORK 12 April 2022 – In one of the most violent attacks, 23 people were injured when a 62-year-old man detonated a smoke bomb and opened fire on a subway. He was arrested a day later.
OXFORD, November 30, 2021 – Four students were killed and seven others injured after a teenager opened fire on a high school in Oxford, Michigan.
INDIANAPOLIS, 16 April 2021 – A former FedEx employee, who had been under psychiatric care, killed eight people and injured several others at a company facility in Indiana, before committing suicide.
LOS ANGELES, 31 March 2021 – Four people, one of them a child, were killed during the shooting in an office building on the outskirts of the city before the suspect was arrested.
BOULDER, 22 March 2021 – A massive attack on a supermarket in Boulder, Colorado left behind 10 dead, including a police officer.
ATLANTA, March 16, 2021 – Eight people, including six women of Asian descent, were shot dead in a series of attacks on massage parlors in and around Atlanta. A suspect has been arrested in connection with the killings.
MILWAUKEE, February 26, 2020 – A gunman opened fire on the Molson Coors Beverage Co beer complex in Milwaukee, killing five associates before committing suicide.
DAYTON, 4 August 2019 – A gunman opened fire in downtown Ohio’s Dayton, killing nine people, including his sister. The attacker was killed by police.
EL PASO, 3 August 2019 – A man shot dead 22 people at a Walmart store in El Paso, Texas. A statement, believed to have been written by the suspect, called the attack “a response to the Hispanic occupation of Texas.” Authorities arrested the attacker.
VIRGINIA BEACH, May 31, 2019 A disgruntled public utility worker opened fire on associates in a Virginia municipal building, killing 12 people before being killed by police.
AURORA, February 15, 2019 – A man opened fire on a factory in Illinois after he was fired, killing five workers before being killed by police.
THOUSAND OAKS, November 7, 2018 – A former Navy veteran killed 12 people at a bar in Thousand Oaks, a Los Angeles suburb. He then killed himself.
PITTSBURGH, 27 October 2018 – A gunman entered the Tree of Life synagogue near Pittsburgh and shot at worshipers gathered to serve the Sabbath, killing 11 people.
SANTA FE, May 18, 2018 – A 17-year-old opened fire on his high school near the city of Houston, killing nine students and a teacher, before surrendering to police officers.
PARKLAND, February 14, 2018 – A former student at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, killed 17 students and teachers.
SUTHERLAND SPRINGS, November 5, 2017 A man deported by the US Air Force for beating his wife and child has shot dead 26 people at a Texas church where his father-in-law was praying. before killing himself.
LAS VEGAS, October 1, 2017 – A gunman opened fire on a music festival from a hotel suite on the 32nd floor, killing 58 people before committing suicide.
ORLANDO, June 12, 2016 – A gunman shot dead 49 people in Pulse, a gay nightclub, before being shot dead by police.
SAN BERNARDINO, December 2, 2015 A man and woman killed 14 people at a workplace party in San Bernardino, Southern California before being killed in a shootout with police.

CHARLESTON, June 17, 2015 – A white supremacist killed nine African-American believers at a church in Charleston. He was sentenced to death.
WASHINGTON, September 16, 2013 – A former Navy reservist working as a government contractor killed 12 people at Washington Navy Yard. He was later killed by police.
NEWTOWN, December 14, 2012 A gunman killed 26 people, including 20 children between the ages of five and 10, in an attack on Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connesticut.
AURORA, 20 July 2012 – A masked gunman killed 12 people at a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado. He was sentenced several times to life imprisonment.
