Gary Neville has returned to attacking Barcelona. The former Manchester United player has once again used social networks to speak against the Catalan team.
“De Jong should consider taking legal action against Barcelona and all the players should stand behind him. When a club spending huge sums on new players without fully paying those under contract is immoral and a breach. FIFPRO (the International Federation of Football Associations) must react.”
Nevill does not agree that Barcelona are pressuring Dutchman de Jong to take a pay cut or otherwise accept the sale. The midfielder’s departure would be an economic issue rather than a sporting one, as the Catalan side would have to pay the Dutchman a hefty sum of money for the four seasons left on his contract.
A few days ago, the president of Barca spoke about the possible sale of the midfielder: “He is our player, we like him very much. We have received several offers for Frenkie but we are not accepting them at the moment, we want to talk to find out exactly what he wants. We need to clarify some aspects of his situation.”
Last Friday, Gary Neville did not spare criticism for the “Blaugrana”:
“It is a desperate club with a debt of 1.3 billion euros that sells the best footballers to spend on other players in the ‘hope’ that they are worth it. It’s like throwing dice, that is, playing with luck.”
