Cops in Italy pulled out their guns to arrest Chelsea’s on-loan Milan player Tiemoue Bakayoko as they searched him until they realized they had stopped the wrong man.
Dramatic footage of the incident shows the moments when his car is stopped by armed police in Milan and taken to the side of the road to be searched at gunpoint.
The footballer had arrived in the Porta Garibaldi area when he was forced to get out of the vehicle at gunpoint.
The 27-year-old Frenchman, who last season played on loan for the Milan club, is seen deciding to rely on the police car.
One officer conducted a body search on Bakayoko while the other two kept their guns still raised.
The footballer doesn’t seem to lose his temper and allows the check in front of other drivers on the road, until one of the officers says he is the wrong man.
Even the other officers seemed shocked to learn that they had stopped the former Napoli footballer and not the suspect they were looking for.
A bearded policeman is then seen apologetically putting his hand on the footballer’s shoulder.
In a statement, the Italian police said: “The arrest was made in connection with a gun incident that had previously occurred in the area and the two men arrested in the off-road vehicle fit the description, because one was black and wearing a green T-shirt.”
“That’s why the weapons were directed at them.”
Meanwhile, the fans appreciated the behavior of the football player who kept calm during the arrest and strict control by the police.
He recently spoke out in defense of teammate Franck Kessie who has been the subject of racist abuse.
The post where Bakayoko wrote “We are proud of the color of the skin” received widespread support from the public, from his former teammates and other athletes in Italy.
