Montenegro has been without a government since the evening of 4 February. The parliament of the neighboring state voted with 43 in favor and 11 against, without abstentions, the motion of no confidence in the government cabinet of Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapic.
The parliamentary session which lasted over 5 hours was accompanied by strong debates. The first item on the agenda, for the vote to shorten the mandate of the parliament was not approved by the deputies as otherwise the country would go to early elections. Further, the way was opened for discussions on the second and most important point, the motion of no confidence in the government, called by Deputy Prime Minister Dritan Abazovic.
Before the start of the voting process, the deputies of the Democratic Front together with the deputies of the SNP left the hall. Deputies from the Democrats were against. As expected, Abazovic received the support of a majority of those elected. Deputies from parties and coalitions voted in favor of dismissing the government: PDS, URA and Civis, SDP, SD and Minority Parties. The three Albanian deputies in the Montenegrin parliament, Genci Nimanbegu, Luigj Shkrela and Fatmir Gjeka, also voted in favor of dismissing the government.
At the end of the parliamentary session, outgoing MPs from the URA party expressed their readiness for the new government as they support their political group colleague Dritan Abazovic as the new prime minister. Discussions between the coalitions for the new government cabinet are expected to begin on Saturday.
