The US passport is ranked as the most powerful in the world for 2022.
Global Citizen Solutions, a data-driven immigration investment consultancy, has published the Global Passport Index, using a robust quantitative rating system for several criteria and categories.
The index includes not only how many countries you have access to thanks to your passport, but also investment opportunities and quality of life indicators in each country.
First place
With a total of 96.4 points, the United States has performed better on new investment opportunity, quality of life, and travel mobility.
Three indices were included in the overall study:
Investment Index (with a significance of 25%)
The United States ranks 4th. With a gross national income (GNI) of $ 66,080 and a personal income tax of 37%, the US is a “more favorable” option for investors.
The US Mobility Index (50%) ranks 10th.
A US passport offers visa-free or visa-free access upon arrival in 172 countries or territories. It is the third highest country that is not a member of the European Union (EU), after Singapore and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Quality of Life Index (25%) United States in 23rd place.
The US ranks high in many aspects related to the overall quality of life, including sustainable development, freedom, environmental performance, immigrant acceptance, and happiness.
“The United States offers investors a developed and diversified economic marketplace, as well as access to the world’s most advanced and lucrative consumer market,” said Patricia Casaburi, Managing Director of Global Citizen Solutions.
In the past, the ranking of passports has focused on the number of countries to which a passport gives access to the holder; however, other new factors, e.g. the prospect of opening a business in another country, have brought a growing interest in the benefits of obtaining a second passport.
“This is one of the main reasons why the US ranked fourth in the Investment Index is because the country offers many attractive visa solutions for immigrants seeking to invest in America, such as the EB5 Visa program, for foreign entrepreneurs and the E2 Visa program (i enables an individual to stay in the US based on an investment to be made within US territory), ”Casaburi continued.
