A young municipal worker in Britain passed the address of a sex offender to a group of volunteer “pedophile hunters” before about 30 of them gathered in front of the maniac’s house.
Chloe Carr, 23, had said that the sexual assailant “deserves everything” as the group threatened to burn down his house in June 2020.
An employee of the town of Hull in the north of England told the anti-pedophile group on Facebook that the man was “disgusting” and lived near a school, but asked them not to reveal who had given them the confidential information.
Consequently the group had gathered near the convict’s house and threatened to kill and burn his house, it was told in Hull court.
Carr, from Yorkshire County pleaded guilty to leaking private information without the person’s consent and was fined 500 500.
The mother of one child was employed by the city council but worked from home to communicate with colleagues.
Chloe – who was pregnant at the time – told the anti-pedophile group that the person lived near a school “so it was even more dangerous”.
She had shared an image with the address in the group and further wrote: “Do not let this come back to me from the work I do in the municipality.”
Carr thanked the group as he repeated to them, “Please do not say he came from the Council.”
At 6.40 pm the same day, the sex offender called the police complaining that his house was surrounded.
He said a group of about 30 people told him “to go out or they would burn down his house”.
Later that evening the anti-pedophile group wrote to Carr to say the person had been displaced.
She replied: “I am very happy, he is disgusting. “I am happy to have helped others.”
Defense attorney Helen Chapman said Carr was “in a weak position” at the time she sent the messages as she was expecting to become a single mother.
Judge Mark Bury dismissed the allegations of abuse of office against Carr by deciding only on the fine.
He said: “You are lucky for that. The crime you committed is serious and could carry a prison sentence. What you did was not a public service. They (the pedophiles) have served their sentence. You do not have to share details. This can destabilize offenders by causing them to break the law again. I hope this has been a lesson for you. “You thought you were helping the community but you were doing the opposite.”
