The new pediatrics of Elbasan, an investment of the Albanian government, has opened its doors in the service of the children of the district of Elbasan and the surrounding areas.
Prime Minister Edi Rama and Minister of Health and Social Protection Ogerta Manastirliu, have seen closely the new investment, which guarantees service with modern standards and conditions.
During the inspection, Prime Minister Edi Rama said: “It was a horror, now pediatrics offers optimal conditions, super, super”.
“The Pediatric Hospital of Elbasan is a fulfilled commitment, which provides quality services to more than 20 thousand children who receive services every year in this hospital. All the doctors and nurses of this Pediatric Hospital know very well what the conditions were like. But to tell the truth, the corps of Elbasan Hospital is already a well-invested corpus, from the point of view of hospital infrastructure but also from the point of view of technology, imaging and laboratory that are already included in the entire hospital development program. “It is a hospital that has 60 oxygen lines, so it responds to all those health emergencies that may occur in the future.” said Manastirliu.
Speaking about investments in the health sector, Manastirliu said that despite the COVID19 pandemic, major works have been completed
“With the mother and child program, only this year we have managed, although a challenging period, to have completed three major works, QSUT, the first phase of the Pediatric Hospital, Berat Maternity and this is the hospital the third we complete within this year. Meanwhile we continue investing. Kukes Hospital ends in June-July. In the meantime, we are ready to complete Kurbin Hospital. “And Tirana, which is the Hospital of Internal Diseases within this year, will be finalized”, said Manastirliu.
The Minister of Health said that the new specialist doctors will be deployed according to the needs in the regional hospitals to provide service near the place of residence.
“116 doctors are completing their specialization this year, who will be distributed according to the needs of the country in regional hospitals. We will start the extension of specializations in the hospital of Durrës, also in the hospital of Elbasan, as we have decided, but also in the Memorial hospital of Fier, where we are preparing to extend the specializations. This year we open 100 new quotas in medicine and this is good news. Because we are preparing precisely to face the demands for the future for general practitioners but also for specialist doctors. While we want to give 50 quotas for the University of Durrës and of course then to combine specializations in regional hospitals because we are already ready “, said Manastirliu.
After Durrës Pediatrics, the major investment for the reconstruction and expansion of Pediatrics in the University Hospital Center “Mother Teresa”, the reconstruction of Fier Pediatrics, the new Pediatrics of Elbasan is another investment of the state budget in the health sector with a focus on modernization of pediatric hospitals and their transformation into child-friendly hospitals. Reconstruction of Elbasan Pediatrics in the amount of 330 million ALL, has included an area of about 3000 m2 as a hospital, meeting the needs of the district of Elbasan. The new hospital has 75 beds, 15 are emergency beds, 60 beds in services.
In addition to infrastructure investments, 4.2 million euros is the budget made available that within this year, to renew the fleet of medical equipment with 4 new scanners in university and regional hospitals, with a new angiograph for the University Hospital Center “Mother Teresa” and 10 new graphs for polyclinics and hospitals.
