The United States and the European Union have reaffirmed their position that Crimea belongs to Ukraine.

In his capacity as chairman of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas also reiterated the EU’s stance condemning Russia’s annexation of Crimea. The Council reaffirms “its clear and unwavering support for Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders,” Maas said.
