Macau closed all its casinos on Monday for the first time in more than two years after the coronavirus outbreak in the world’s biggest gambling hub.
Authorities have ordered non-essential businesses including more than 30 casinos to close for a week.
The city has recorded 1,526 Covid cases since mid-June according to official figures, while the strict rules have led to the closure of many places.
According to the BBC, around 19,000 people have been placed under mandatory quarantine as the city experiences another wave of infections.
Schools and places of entertainment, including bars, restaurants and cinemas, have already been closed to curb the spread of the virus.
