A day after the referendum where it was voted for the dismissal of Lulzim Basha as chairman of the Democratic Party, former Prime Minister Sali Berisha reacted through a message on social networks.
Berisha posted a video of former US Secretary of State James Baker during the latter’s visit to Tirana.
“Boundless honor and gratitude to the 44 thousand democrats who with their free vote took their fate into their own hands!”, Writes Berisha.
In the video in question Baker says; “You are free to believe what you want. Finally you are free to affirm what you want. “Finally you are free to choose your leaders.”
Berisha has announced that the first national protest will take place on Monday, December 20th.
He said that citizens will protest in front of the Prime Minister and the rally will start at 16:00.
On the other hand, on the same day with the referendum, the National Assembly convened by Basha was held, while ignoring the result of the referendum of Sali Berisha where about 44 thousand Democrats voted in favor of his dismissal.
Lulzim Basha promised that on Sunday the names of 5 thousand 4 delegates will be made public to refute the accusations that there were fewer seats in the Palace of Congresses than the declared delegates.
Internal problems within the Democratic Party deepened after Basha expelled Berisha from the PD Parliamentary Group, following his declaration ‘non grata’ by the US. After this event, the former leader of the Democratic Party started holding lectures in various cities of the country, while the Re-Establishment Commission of the party was established.
