A man in Ohio (USA) stole a car without seeing a teenage passenger sleeping in the back seat.
That prompted the incident to take place in a high-speed chase when the teenager gave the location to authorities, police said.
19-year-old Raylon Scott was relaxing in the back seat of an Audi A4 car at a Hyundai point of sale in the town of Findlay when 32-year-old robber Justin Vaughn jumped into the driver’s seat and left with Scott inside the car.
Scott and his girlfriend, Kharisma Guajardo, 17, had brought the Audi to the point of sale to sell or shop.
Police were quickly notified that the car was being stolen and Guajardo managed to track down the vehicle that was speeding eastward on the US 224 motorway.
Scott sent texts to his friend describing Vaughn’s whereabouts and threatening behavior, which were then passed on to authorities.
The chase ended when Vaughn crashed the Audi car west of Sycamore. Both the robber Vaughn and his hostage Scott, suffered minor injuries from the collision, police said, adding that officers arrested him for robbery and kidnapping.
