The number of people seeking to flee the war in Ukraine could quickly reach 1.5 million, says the UN.
“This is the fastest movement and displacement of people we have seen in Europe since World War II“, Says the organization for Reuters.
So far 1.3 million people have fled their homes since the Russian occupation began.
Poland is the country that has welcomed the most Ukrainians who have left their homes, but there has also been an influx towards Hungary and Romania. However not all Ukrainians will eventually stay in these countries.
The clearest example of this is Romania, in the first eight days of the war 200,000 people arrived there, but then 140,000 of them decided to leave for other countries, according to the UN.
Countries bordering Ukraine are serving as the first stop for many people fleeing the war.
