Tonight thousands of lanterns are lit in the UK as part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations. Preparations began before sunset, arranging the lanterns and the areas where they would be placed.
This celebration did not end with the ceremonies that took place during the day, but continued in the evening as well. The first lantern was lit in London, and then others were launched into the sky. After the official call, the celebrations in the kingdom resumed again gathering people.
According to Sky News, over 3,000 towns, villages and cities across the UK, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man, the UK Outer Territories and each of the Commonwealth Capitals lit up the Jubilee to honor of Queen Elizabeth II.
