The 24-year-old Hungarian model, Greta Gila has asked the Italian state for a compensation of 100 thousand euros for unjust arrest.
On March 22, 2019, she was arrested at a hotel in Fiumicino, before flying to Tokyo for a photo shoot. The 24-year-old was charged with drug trafficking. She spent 74 days in jail in Civitavecchia. The court decided to ease his security measure, giving him house arrest for six months. Gila found it impossible to leave Italy, as she was forced to sign every week at the Rome police.
On December 10, 2019, Gila received the notification that the Civitavecchia prosecutor had closed the investigation and as a result she learned that her arrest had resulted in a mistake.
In 2019 the name of Greta Gila began to become known in the world of fashion and beauty contests.
Two years ago she was elected Miss Tourism in her country and was nominated for Miss Hungary in 2018. She had also participated in Miss Universe in China.
On March 22, 2019, Gila had made a stop in Fiumicinio before leaving for Tokyo, where they were waiting for him to conduct a photo session. She was leaving the next morning.
Meanwhile, as her lawyer Massimiliano Scaringella explained, the stylist of the photo session arrived in Fiumicino from Brazil, in whose luggage 11.kg of cocaine were found.
“The drugs had to be handed over to an accomplice, while the photo session was just a shield of drug trafficking. It was very clear that Greta Gila was simply a victim, as she had no knowledge about drugs“, Says Scaringella.
That evening, the Hungarian model had dinner with a manager of her agency. The stylist also joined them.
Apparently, due to dinner, the latter was late to send the merchandise, while nervous, asking the model to climb into the room and wait for her until she returned.
The Italian police, the lawyer says, had carried out a so-called “directed surrender” police operation. She was arrested in flagrante delicto while delivering the goods.
At the time the stylist, chased by Italian police, knocked on the model’s door, the latter, who spoke very few Italian words, thought it was a robbery. Italian police then searched her room but failed to find anything. She was escorted to the police while being charged with international drug trafficking.
After being stopped, Gila sought to call her parents, who managed to find a lawyer in Rome, Scaringella, who spoke Hungarian.
In the first questions, Gila explained that she had never met the stylist before and that she was in transit in Rome, as she would have to fly to Tokyo where she was employed to conduct a photo session.
Only after 73 days, the lawyer managed to commute the sentence. She started working in Rome, first in a coffee bar and then in a fashion store.
In fact, the investigation did not reveal any connection between her and the drug trafficker, while the photo set to be realized in Tokyo was used as cover without the knowledge of the model and other people who had to work in that service, which served as cover. for cocaine trafficking.
She has demanded a compensation of 100 thousand euros due to the great psychological damage caused to her and this claim will be reviewed on February 22 by the judges of the Court of Appeal of Rome.
