The stations of two of the three metro lines in Athens have been evacuated and closed, following an anonymous phone call about planting a bomb.
“All stations on lines two and three have been evacuated and closed by order of the police, and even the control center has been closed”, announced the company that manages the metro, Telegrafi reports.
This preventive measure was taken after an anonymous phone call, with which it was alleged that explosive devices were placed at the Syntagma metro station, as well as at the Monastiraki station near the Plaka tourist center.
Greek police demining teams and sniffing dogs have been sent for detailed inspection across stations.
