A 17-year-old playing in a green area in Laprakë claims to have found a Kalashnikov firearm along with ammunition, but instead of handing it over to the police, he preferred to hide it near the apartment with the intention of selling it.
This adventure opened up trouble with the justice system, since on Tuesday afternoon he was arrested and due to his age, he was released on bail for carrying weapons without a permit.
Two of his neighbors had trouble and were also prosecuted for not reporting a crime.
The seized weapon was sent to the laboratory for examination to see if it was used in any criminal incident.
Meanwhile, the police have doubts that the teenager’s version that the gun would be sold is not reliable.
The blue uniforms suspect that the weapon could also be used as a threatening tool for robbery that the minor or his acquaintances could commit.
Not only in Tirana, but throughout the country, the involvement of minors in criminal offenses has become a serious problem.
Top Channel learns that in 6 months, 800 minors were suspected of a criminal offense, which make up 5% of the criminal offenses committed in this time period.
In another operation, the Tirana police found and seized 7 firearms, 4 silencers, military ammunition, suspected narcotics, 2 police radios, as well as gloves, masks and forged license plates in two rented apartments.
25-year-old Kristjan Gjini and 22-year-old Franceska Kolgjegja were taken into custody. The police suspect that the young people are part of a criminal group and could carry out events for payment.
Investigations are being deepened to identify other persons involved in this activity.
