Across the northeast of England and Yorkshire there has been a shortage of health staff due to Covid-19, which has doubled within a week, according to the latest data.
8,788 employees of the National Health Service (NHS) in the secondary health services of hospitals in the region were sick with coronavirus or had to be isolated on January 2, 110 percent more than the 4,179 reported on December 26.
New figures from the National Health Service in England have also shown that staff shortages at Covid Hospital in the north-west increased by 85 per cent from 3,966 to 7,338, while in the Midlands it increased by 65 per cent to 7,931, from 4,812.
Covid Hospital staff shortages increased by 58 per cent from week to week in the South West, 42 per cent in the South East and 40 per cent in the East of England.
