US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has rejected the idea of Russia’s departure from the UN Human Rights Council.
Speaking before the council this Tuesday, Blinken said Russia should not stay in the organization, as it is committing horrific abuses against Ukraine and causing mass suffering.
“One might rightly ask whether a UN member state trying to take control of another UN member state, while committing horrific human rights abuses and causing massive humanitarian suffering, should allowed to stand on this council“, Said Blinken.
The council has 47 member states, which are elected by the UN General Assembly, one of which is Russia.
