The United States sent nearly 5.2 million doses of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine to Egypt and Nigeria on Thursday, a White House official told AFP.
The shipments are part of a global donation campaign from the United States.
More than 400 million doses have already been shipped, up from 1.1 billion on target.
The White House official said about 3 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine have been shipped to Nigeria and over 2 million more doses to Egypt.
The United States and other countries that produce pandemic vaccines have been criticized for not doing enough to curb the global spread of the virus.
