A glamorous meditation and fitness instructor has been brutally murdered in a luxury hotel in Hong Kong by her ex-boyfriend, hours before she was due to embark on a long-awaited trip to the US.
Zhou Huixian, also known as Aqua Chow, 23, was due to embark on her dream trip for a three-month training course in the US yesterday, but tragically missed her plane today.
The police found the body of the young instructor covered in blood in the bathtub of the Ritz Carlton hotel in Hong Kong with about 30 blows from a 27-cm long knife.
The walls of the hotel room were also covered in blood, believed to be from the fight with the killer.
Police said they arrested her ex-boyfriend Lao Nan, 28, who surrendered a short time later at Wong Tai Sin police station.
In security footage she was seen leaving the house with a man on June 29, but never returned to catch the flight.
Aqua, who has more than 53,000 followers on Instagram, was excited about her trip, her father said.
“My daughter was looking forward to the trip and when she didn’t get on the plane, I knew there was a problem.”
“I tried to contact her and then I went to her house but her suitcase was there intact,” he said.
When the father could not find him, he contacted the police.
Officers found Aqua’s body in a bloody room at the Ritz Carlton hotel in the Tsim Sha Tsui area.
A police spokesman said: “The crime scene has been cordoned off and a person has been arrested on suspicion of murder.”
“Investigators have collected numerous pieces of evidence, including sharp knives and bloody personal items, which are being taken for investigation.”
Initial investigations revealed that Lao had booked the room on June 28 and stayed there for two days.
Investigations continue.
