A load of 125 kilograms of cocaine was seized today in England, where three people were arrested who were suspected of producing special machines for carrying drug loads.
The amount of cocaine destined for Australia has been discovered in a hidden compartment of a diesel generator, which was to be transported by air from Heathrow to Sydney.
Three men were arrested in connection with the incident, namely: a 29-year-old in Wickford, Essex, a 43-year-old in Much Hadham, Hertfordshire and a 42-year-old in Romford, Essex.
Officers also searched industrial premises in Rayleigh, Essex, South Ockenden and Feltham in west London.
They found another generator with a hidden compartment at the South Ockenden address, as well as cannabis plants, a number of stolen vehicles and high-value jewellery.
“A shipment of this amount of cocaine from the UK to Australia is unusual but shows the global scale of the Class A drug trade. This operation was planned and carried out together with our partners including the Border Force and New Wales Police Southern. We work closely with partners around the world to combat the highest risk organized crime threats.”- said NCA Branch Commander Lydia Bloomfield
