In “Dreamers”, journalists remembered tonight the first reports on the screen of Top Channel, accompanied by emotions and fear in the face of innovations that this media brought to Albania.
Journalist Alma Demiraj, remembers how Top Channel brought the first direct connections. She was following the protest in the capital, when she first appeared ‘live’ in the news edition.
“The first direct link was made to Top Channel. The edition had a rhythm, that even today when I remember it, I get excited.
I was following a protest from Bathorja, where residents had built without permission, but there was no infrastructure, no sewerage anything. When the fight with the police started, the editor-in-chief Mentor Kikia told me that we should make a ‘live’ connection. He asked me if I could do it if I crossed the police cordon. “Then the van had to come to make connections, while the stones were flying over our heads.”
Another difficult moment in her work as a journalist was reporting from Gerdec, after the tragic explosion:
“It was a moment when everyone was leaving, the highways were emptied. But we were the first with the news. Editor-in-Chief Bledar Zaganjori informs me to climb a hill and install the camera, because the gas plants, which were very close, were expected to explode. “We had to climb the hill, install the camera and save our heads.”.
Alma Demiraj recalls a case 17 years ago, when she reported an abuse of the legal competition thesis.
“In September 2005, Top Channel revealed the sale of the competition thesis for admissions to the Faculty of Law. “After the exclusive denunciation, the competition was canceled and organized in safer conditions.”.
Moderator Ori Nebiaj remembers how after taking the exam, she learned that everything was rejected and she had to develop another thesis from scratch.
“I remember it like now. After we finished the meeting, I would deal with the lawyer, how the competition would go. A friend of mine tells me that someone will meet me. He told me the thesis was sold, but I should not tell anyone who gave it to me. We made the decision together. We told Mentor Kiki that I have the thesis. He asked me who gave it to me and I could not, even to this day I have not told “.
Immediately after the chronicle, the decision was made that the competition would be organized from scratch.
