Also, during one week, 30 people were arrested for violating the traffic code, where 6 were caught drunk at the wheel, 5 without a license and 5 others tried to bribe the policemen to avoid the fine.
For weeks, the Tirana police have been using educational drones that detect violations from the air that are mainly related to the positioning of the vehicle on the road and giving priority.
“There are 7 drones in operation, which are positioned in different axes of the capital. Since the capital has a lighter traffic, we are now using this time to educate vehicle drivers to give priority to vehicles in roundabouts, or to pedestrians on white lines, as well as regular positioning on the road. said Gerhard Baka, traffic inspector.
A serious violation, but not fined so far, has been the throwing of items from the moving vehicle, which is already being enforced by the traffic police and the punishments provided by Article 15 of the traffic code have started and are punishable by a fine of twenty five thousand up to one hundred thousand ALL.
“This behavior should not happen, it is a lack of culture”, said Gerhard Baka.
Another violation that was often found after finishing school was the non-use of vehicle restraint systems for children under 12 years old. The Tirana Police appeals that these devices be used to increase the safety of minors, otherwise the traffic code provides that the driver will be punished with an administrative measure of 5,000 – 15,000 new lek and suspension of the driving license from 6 to 12 months.
