In the overall ranking of the best European cities for food lovers, Tirana comes fourth.
This is the conclusion of a study conducted by uswitch.com, collecting data from TripAdvisor, in about 235 thousand restaurants in every European capital, focusing on vegetarian food options, cafes, bars, fast food, average price.
Athens tops the list, followed by Belgrade, Sofia and Tirana. Then come Valletta in Malta, Lisbon in Portugal, Vilnius in Lithuania, Bratislava in Slovakia and Zagreb in Croatia, while the Romanian capital Bucharest closes the top ten.
For each city and each restaurant, the weighted average is calculated taking into account the number of restaurants and reviews. “The ranking results are higher if a city has higher ratings and a lower price,” the uswitch.com website explains.
Meanwhile, the Bulgarian capital Sofia tops the ranking of the best cafes (with a score of 9.19/10), followed by Bucharest and Athens, the capital of Greece. Also, Sofia is second after Skopje in North Macedonia in terms of fast food (with a score of 9.02/10).
Among the best capitals for brunch, Tirana leads the classification, followed by Athens, Zagreb, Valletta, Lisbon, Sofia, Belgrade, Skopje, Prague and Bratislava.
