Organizers of protests against rising prices have called the government’s measures to cope with the crisis insufficient.
The day before the next protest, they presented the demands related to the abolition of the turnover tax and the suspension of VAT for the basic products of the basket. The deadline for their completion is March 19.
“Measures are not enough to cope with the crisis. There is no guarantee that prices will be consistently low. The package for people in need is minimal. “Our requests are based on three main pillars: Fiscal burden reduction, Investigation and supervision for market functioning and support for business and vulnerable groups”, says one of the organizers.
On Saturday at 11:00, the march will start from Skanderbeg Square towards the Prime Minister’s Office, where the participation of citizens from different cities is expected. In case of non-fulfillment of the demands, the organizers warned of escalation of the protests.
“There will be a march from Skanderbeg Square to the Prime Minister’s Office and then it will be decided how it will proceed. So far the government has reacted, however comparing it to the initial reaction, we hope to react further. One of the scenarios is escalation and we will do that. The protests will continue uninterrupted“.
Protests against the increase in the price of fuel and basket products have been taking place in the country for several days, while the government has introduced the Social Resistance package to help cope with the situation.
