A British tourist says he was amazed by a ‘monitor’ salamander that appeared from the toilet hole of his rented room while on holiday in Thailand.
The venomous reptile had pulled its head out of the toilet hole after traversing the length of the pipe.
The recorded footage showed the animal twisting its slender tongue as it had embarrassedly managed to cross the narrow curve to further raise its head while looking around.
Jason Kingman from Kent in the east of Britain, was found seeing eye to eye with the animal in the Pathum Thani resort on January 21st.
The 37-year-old and his local girlfriend Chantima Chairisuk, 45, watched for a few minutes the animal that a little later returned to the hole.
Jason said this was the strangest thing that had ever happened to him on vacation.
He said: “My girlfriend called me because there was something dirty moving in the toilet but I did not think it could be a reptile lizard.”
“I was amazed when I saw what it was. There are many of them living in the garden but this was the first time I saw one of them in our bathroom. ”
Chantima said he was just using the toilet when he spotted the dark figure moving inside him.
She left her cell phone on record and went to call Jason to check on the object, which turned out to be an Asian ‘monitor’ reptile.
Although animals are usually scary, they can become aggressive and have a mild venomous bite that may contain harmful bacteria.
Reptiles live in the canals and ponds of major Thai cities and feed on fish, snakes, frogs or other species.
Chantima added: “I believe the monitor reptile was trying to get away, so it hid in our toilet. “He left later and did not hurt anyone.”
