Towards the pink decade / A year ago, the Socialists won a third term but Rama still wants to

For the first time, a ruling majority in Albania managed to win a third term after winning 74 seats in those elections.

So much so that Edi Rama committed himself to winning what was jokingly called the Kuçi Memorandum, or his bet with some Vlora people, a few days before April 25, 2021.

Edi Rama preferred to build his third governing team with some former ministers of Rama2 cabinet and the rest, with ministers of a lower political profile, more technical.

During a year of government, Edi Rama continued the previously launched projects as he had to manage new crises.

The energy one, followed by the rise in prices as a result of the war in Ukraine.

After landing the London boys at the new airport of Kukës, as he had promised, in the first year of the third term, Rama gave ok for the construction of the third airport instead of that of Vlora.

In the face of a serious threat to the state budget from subsidizing electricity, although it will take several years of work, the Rama government advanced with the construction of the Skavica hydropower plant after receiving a loan from the US government.

As in the second term, this third one for Rama is stuck from the crisis, to another character.

After the Earthquake and the Pandemic, the Rama 3 government had to face the energy crisis and the increase in the price of oil and basic foodstuffs.

The solution offered by the government was the same as the pandemic.

Subsidies for the purchase of energy, subsidies to groups in need and a state attempt through boards in price control.

While in the second term Edi Rama had to face downstairs in his office the Molotov cocktails of the opposition protesters, the last months of the first year of the third term faced a civil protest for the increase of prices, but it quickly disappeared at the moment when well-known segments of politics appeared in the square. In such cases, during this year, the end has been the same. Squares are emptied quickly. This because

politically Edi Rama’s advantage remains unchanged: he is called the Democratic Party.

Those few confrontations in parliament with Lulzim Basha, were used by Rama to show his political supremacy and to emphasize the destructive chaos that had begun in the DP.

The opposition tried to stop Rama’s supremacy through an investigative commission for incinerators, wanting to put the prime minister before the fact that the theft of the century was consumed.

Edi Rama offered 11 hours of confrontation, through figures and jokes, in the face of the opposition’s claims for the theft, which according to them amounted to 430 million euros.

But Two months later, Alqi Bllako, former secretary in charge of the presidency and then in the ministry of environment, would be handcuffed by SPAK, as the second senior official behind bars for the same file.

Numerous accusations of responsibility by Rama, the Prime Minister gave the same answer: that the responsibility is personal.

Since September 9, with the start of the Assembly and the vicissitudes of the DP with Sali Berisha non grata, Edi Rama continued to govern politically calm with the only opposition, if it can be called so, the protest cries coming from Erion Brace, mainly for agriculture.

Thus the socialist government has entered today in the tenth year, the opposition of Berisha and a few weeks later and of Meta in the first decade, while the country is still moving towards an unknown scenario, where the defects of the opposition seem bigger than the mistakes of the government . Where ministers come and go, so do MPs. The only one who does not change is the prime minister. Who was now, is talking calmly and unceasingly, about running for a (next) fourth term.
