The new Turkish telecommunications satellite, Türksat 5B, was successfully launched into space by the American company SpaceX, and it seems that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan thanks Elon Musk for this achievement.
Media reports indicate that the satellite, launched from the Cape Canaveral in Florida, will reach its orbital point of 42 degrees East in 164 days, and then the 45-day test will begin.
The Türksat 5B, produced with contributions from Turkey’s domestic industry as well as with the help of Airbus, was shipped from France to the US in late November.
It is considered the most powerful Turkish satellite to date. It is capable of transmitting more than 55 gigabytes of data and, in addition to Turkey, can cover the entire Middle East, the Persian Gulf, the Mediterranean and much of Africa.
Erdogan described this as another “moment of pride for Turkey and the Turkish nation.”
“We launched the most powerful satellite in space with the highest communication capacity of our country, and for this satellite project we also chose the Falcon 9 rocket of Space X“, Said the Turkish president, thanking Musk and his company Space X that were not affected, as he said, by the pressure of” anti-Turkish “lobbies.
