Police return violent fans to Italy by ferry.
In the early hours of this morning they have turned back and at this moment about 80 troubled fans are traveling to Italy. Their identification was made in cooperation with Interforca and the Italian Embassy.
Accompanied by police, they arrived at the port after 2 o’clock this morning. In anticipation of them, the ferry line Durrës-Bari has started with about 6 hours delay, around 05.00 on Wednesday. Port sources suggest that the boarding of the fans on the ferry did not go smoothly, but this time they had connections with the system and some of the Italians were registered manually to be later thrown into the system.
The decision to remove the troubled fans from the country came after their violent acts in various areas of the capital, as a quick reaction to secure a sports match away from the acts of violence and tension that is characterizing this great European match. Keeping dangerous elements away is considered as a solution to bring the situation under control and maintain order and security during and after the match.
Meanwhile, this morning other fans are expected to arrive in Durrës with the ferries of Bari and Ancona, while in the port there is an increased presence of police forces.
