Two officials of the Berat Regional Tax Office and the Directorate of Protected Areas have been arrested on charges of “abuse of office” and “passive corruption”.
Their arrest came after several months of work of the Berat Prosecutor’s Office, where it was achieved the documentation with legal evidence of the irregular benefit, in some cases, of monetary values by 2 citizens who exercise public functions.
In the framework of the operation “Taxes”, certain security measures were executed by the Berat Judicial District Court, as follows:
“Prison arrest” for the citizen PA, 50 years old, resident in Berat, tax inspector in DRT Berat, for the criminal offenses “Abuse of duty” and “Passive corruption of persons exercising public functions”;
“Home arrest” for citizens AZ, 66 years old, resident in Skrapar and V. Sh., 42 years old, resident in Drenovic, Berat (both administrators of entities), for the criminal offense “Active corruption of persons exercising public functions”.
The citizen PA, during the performance of his functional duty, has benefited monetary values in an irregular manner, from the citizens AZ and V. Sh, favoring them in the control of the documentation of their subjects.
As part of the “Stop” operation, the citizen VL, 40 years old, resident in Skrapar, specialist at DZM Berat was detained, after the Court of the Judicial District of Berat has imposed the security measure “Prison arrest”, criminal offenses “Abuse of duty” And “Passive corruption of persons exercising public functions”.
This citizen, during the performance of his functional duty, has illegally obtained monetary values from individuals and entities, who exercised the illegal activity of extracting stone slabs in the protected area of Tomori Mountain.
Under the direction of the Prosecution, work continues on the full legal documentation of these cases.
