Declassified documents from the Cold War period show recently how Russian pilots and soldiers had witnessed light in the sky or flying vehicles, like nothing seen before on earth.
The findings show that encounters with unknown objects in the sky were spotted not only in the US but also in the Soviet Union.
The files recently published by the KGB speak of dozens of reports by soldiers and pilots of objects with large and strange shapes, powerful lights and speeds unmatched by man, writes the British The Sun.
Among the reports is that of a Russian colonel talking about an object that changed shape as it emitted a strong rod of light toward the ground.
While a MiG-21 fighter pilot was amazed by a mysterious object performing movements previously unattainable by man-made machines.
Dmitry Rogozin, head of the Russian agency Roscosmos – confirmed that Moscow was also investigating UFOs.
The Sun wrote that the documents were given to the newspaper by UAP Media UK, the media group that seeks discussion and transparency about UFOs.
Group spokesman Graeme Rendall said: “Translated reports do not provide a clear answer to UFOs but reiterate suggestions that unidentified flying objects are not just an American phenomenon.
“Mysterious flying vehicles have been seen all over the world, even in regimes to hide or not the truth, and which is the issue of UFOs.”
Major General Popovich is one of the first 20 cosmonauts and has commanded the Vostok 4 spacecraft since 1962.
He and his wife Marina Popovich, also interested in the UFO phenomenon have been supersonic aircraft pilots. Marina who is also known as “Madame MiG” together with her husband have asked for transparency until their death, in 2009 for Pavel and 2017 for Marina.
Reports include that of a witness in Burkhala, Magadan, who saw a “bright red object” appear in the sky for 30 minutes in October 1989.
A witness working at the Baikonur Cosmodrome estimated that the object was moving at a speed of 1000 km / h.
In another episode, Lieutenant Valerii Voloshin described a flying object in the shape of a “disk with a hemisphere above” on July 28, 1989.
The Soviets ordered the planes to take off to check but the pilots reportedly could not approach them.
Rendall added: “Although the accuracy or veracity of these KGB reports is not verifiable, they are a valuable source of information on other Cold War secrets.”
