In addition to strict sanctions, Ukraine has asked European countries for assistance in armaments. The news is confirmed by the Ambassador of Ukraine in Tirana Volodymyr Shkurov, who also reveals the request for the Albanian government.
Volodymyr Shkurov: We will not surrender our independence and sovereignty, we will defend our homeland in all ways, but we need active support and help. We call on the EU and the US and the entire democratic world to use such sanctions against the aggressor which will stop it. In addition to sanctions, we have made a request for weapons, but also for financial assistance. We have also asked the Albanian government for help with gasoline and other liquids like these.
Albania has responded positively to the call for help.
Volodymyr Shkurov: These requests have been made recently and some we have just made so there has not yet been time to respond. Some of the elements of assistance are agreed with Albania and we were waiting for the mode of transport to continue the procedures. I would like to thank Albania for this behavior and the solidarity shown to us.
Ukraine has not yet recognized Kosovo as a state, but its support has not been lacking.
Volodymyr Shkurov: For us, any kind of support from the citizens of Kosovo is important. I express my official gratitude. But, understanding the human aspect of the situation, I am obliged to announce that Ukraine has not yet recognized Kosovo. Currently we are not talking about the legal context, but in that of human relations.
