A Ukrainian official said their army was running out of ammunition needed for its fight against Russian forces.
In the Mykolaiv region, near the southern front line of the country, the regional governor called for urgent international military assistance, reports VOA.
“The Russian army is more powerful, it has a lot of artillery and ammunition. Right now, this is an artillery war… and we have no ammunition“, Said Vitaliy Kim. “The help of Europe and America is very, very important”.
Ukraine is in talks with other countries to secure more weapons. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba wrote in a Twitter post on Saturday that he had spoken with his Polish counterpart, Zbigniew Rau, on the issue of future shipments of heavy weapons. Mr Kuleba said the two also discussed imposing another round of European sanctions on Russia.
On the battlefield, fierce fighting continued in the Donbas region as the Ukrainian army launched several counterattacks in the Russian-occupied Kherson region in the south of the country.
