Ukraine today bans the transit of Russian gas to Europe from the Luhansk region in the east of the country due to the war.
This will remove 32.6 million cubic meters of gas per day from the old continent, or one third of the daily amount transported from Ukraine to Europe.
Ukrainian authorities say that due to the Russian occupation it has become impossible to control the Sochranivka checkpoints and the gas station in Novopskov.
Sochranivka is part of the Sojus pipeline, which runs from the Russian region of Orenburg to Ushhorod in Ukraine. According to Kiev, the Russians had recently damaged the work of these wards.
Orders for the transit of Russian gas through Sochranivka have dropped to zero in the meantime, OGTSU announced. For the passage of gas through the Sojus pipeline to the west will be accepted for this day only orders from Gazprom.
The Russian energy giant, which transports almost 100 million cubic meters of gas almost daily through Ukraine to Europe, claims that “there is no confirmation of a situation under extraordinary factors.”
The Ukrainians had worked “undisturbed” in recent weeks in Sochranivska. It is not technically possible for the blocked supplies to pass through the Sudsha checkpoint on Russian territory near Ukraine, spokesman Sergei Kuprijanov said.
Following the announcement from Ukraine, the German Ministry of Economy announced that “security of supply in Germany is currently guaranteed, and that Germany is not threatened by this reduction in supply.
