Officials in Ukraine claimed yesterday that Russia had lost so many soldiers in their war in Ukraine that they were forced to store the bodies of slain soldiers at a meat-packing factory in Melitopol, which has been modified as a morgue.
IN press releaseof the intelligence branch of the Ukrainian army it was said that the Russian army no longer has room to place the rising dead.
They added that Russian officials were seeking “additional refrigerators” to deploy troops in the occupied city of Melitopol, southeast of the Ukrainian capital, Kiev.
“The invading Melitopol administration is seeking additional refrigerators and industrial refrigerators, as the city’s meat-packing plant has been converted into a morgue,” the statement said.
The Ukrainians added: “The meat packaging factory is full of the bodies of the slain invaders and can no longer hold.”
Ukrainian officials continued to speculate on the practice of managing the bodies of war casualties, saying “the owners of the factory had been ordered by the Russians to leave the factory free of charge.”
The bodies stored there were killed in battles near the towns of Polohy and Huliaipole in the Zaporizhia region, Kiev officials added.
“These events are related to the heavy casualties of the occupiers,” the Ukrainian press release said.
Russian officials have not responded to today’s allegations.
Russian forces have taken control of the city of Melitopol in the first week of the offensive in Ukraine.
In March the Russian military deployed a new mayor in Melitopol while the former was arrested by the military.
