Foreign Minister Olta Xhaçka, in an interview with Sokol Balla, stressed the important role of Albania in the UN, in the conditions that Ukraine is in.
For “Top Story”, Xhaçka said that the role of our country has been of the first level, as a vanguard of diplomatic efforts to isolate Russia. The Minister stressed that this comes with its own risks, but it is the responsibility of Albania as part of the Security Council.
“We have played a first-level role, we have been at the forefront of all diplomatic efforts to isolate Russia. We have worked closely with the European Union, not only pro, but also NATO, to play this pro-active role. There is no doubt that this comes with its own risks, but this is a responsibility that we have most of all being part of the Security Council and playing a primary role as co-author of these resolutions, but it is up to us to play this role as a country that has always been a democrat, pro-Western, peace-loving, in relation to what is happening today that is not only violating the freedom of Ukraine, but is violating the whole international order and the security of Europe. It is important to be a united front, so we have shown that we are with the democratic world. It is up to us to play our part, regardless of the consequences we may have. We are a member of NATO, so we have guaranteed security. This is the price we have to pay to guarantee the security of our continent, Europe“, Said among others Xhaçka.
