Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki defended his country through a statement, following criticism that border guards are unequally treating Ukrainians who want to enter Poland to escape war in their country.
“Poland serves all people equally! All the people fleeing war everywhere in the world and refugees from every country of origin“, Morawiecki told the media, from the border of Poland with Ukraine.
We are treating everyone with dignity and in the same way for everyone, because that is how it should be, said the Polish Prime Minister, while urging citizens not to fall prey to Russian manipulation and propaganda.
Andriy Demchenko, spokesman for the Ukrainian Border Guard Service, told CNN on Monday that the allegations of border crossings were untrue and that the guards were working under great pressure, but in legal ways.
As of February 24, more than 453,000 people have crossed the border from Ukrainians to Poland, according to the Polish Border Guard.
