Ukrainians in our schools / Refugee children of war sit on the benches

“From the information we have received, there are 211 students, until April 4, who have come to our country. Together with their families they have settled mainly in coastal cities such as Durrës, Shengjin, Orikum, Vlora, Saranda, and Tirana. “The age of these children is 3-16 years old”, he says Shkëlqim Allkaj, Head of the Working Group on Ukrainian Children.

Practically these students continue learning on the online platform in their schools in Ukraine. But some Ukrainian parents are interested in their embassy in Tirana and as a result the embassy has communicated with the Ministry of Education, to integrate these students after the lessons they develop online in their country, to integrate in schools mainly for activities, games and psycho-social support.

We can integrate these students in schools, which function even after school hours, which are the schools “We do the homework project”, which is a project where they both learn and have fun. We can also integrate them into Community Center schools.

A difficult problem according to the Ministry of Education and officials of the Embassy of Ukraine in our country is the communication of children, how they will get along with each other.

Shkëlqim Allkaj: We have also received information in this regard, and we have been told, that Ukrainian children do as a second language in their country, English and French. Our students also make these languages ​​and this fact greatly facilitates communication between them.

So far we do not have any enrollment specifically in any school. We are waiting. This is a process that started on Friday with the establishment of the working group, and every Friday we will have an update with the data that we will receive from the Local Education Offices and in any case if there is an emergency that requires our intervention.
