The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) announced Monday that more than 500,000 refugees have fled Ukraine due to Russia’s ongoing occupation.
In a Twitter post, UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi said neighboring countries should provide humanitarian assistance and support to the Ukrainian people in this state of war.
“I see the need for the European Commission to increase funding for health personnel, medicines and other necessary assistance“, Added Grandi.
On the other hand, EU Commissioner for Home Affairs Ylva Johansson, in a mobile refugee camp at the Siret border crossing in Romania, stated that the European Union has shown unity in its stance against the Russian occupation of Ukraine.
