Washington’s diplomatic headquarters in Tirana, this Monday gave Albanians super news.
In addition to the long list of those already declared non-women, all those Albanians who want to go to the US, in their passports will no longer have a 3-year visa but with three times the validity so far.
The news, which he called wonderful, was given by Ambassador Yuri Kim, who often repeats that the US has an alliance with Albanians.
This was the occasion to prove this with deeds and not just words.
Yuri Kim: We will now make it easier for Albanians who want to visit friends and family in America, see our countries and build business relationships. Starting April 1, the validity for a new tourist or business visa will be extended from three to ten years. This means that if you are an Albanian citizen who obtains a tourist or business visa on April 1 or later, your visa will be valid for ten years, not just three. You will be able to travel to and from the United States under applicable laws and regulations without having to renew your visa by 2032.
Regarding the reasons for this decision, Ambassador Kim said:
Yuri Kim: The decision of the United States to extend the validity of the visa for ten years reflects the fact that Albanians are increasingly following the rules when visiting the United States. I hope we find even more ways to bring Albanians and Americans closer together. We look forward to welcoming you to the United States and look forward to another 100 years as friends.
The first US step for a new 3-year visa regime was made public by former Ambassador Alexander Arvizu on Top Channel’s Top Story show by journalist Sokol Balla in December 2014.
Alexander Arvizu: I am very pleased to announce that starting today, for those Albanians who qualify for these visas, their validity will now be 3 years, not 1. So, if you qualify it means that the visa will be valid for 3 years, so we will save money as people will not have to apply every year. I really hope that one day the restrictions will be eased and the next step will be the validity of visas for 5 years and after that, maybe one day Albania will qualify for the visa-free travel program.
In fact, 8 years later, this hope of the former ambassador Arvizu is not only realized but also exceeds his prediction.
This American gift to Albanians comes at a time when Washington’s envoy to Tirana, Yuri Kim, has been under constant attack by Sali Berisha, accusing him of being part of a plot by George Soros’ mafia to declare him Non Grata.
And while Sali Berisha seems to keep, will forever keep the prefix non-grata, Albanians in their passports from April 1, will enjoy 10-year US visas.
Anyway, today is a good day for us Albanians, the most pro-American people in the world.
Probably the issuance of 10-year visas may be the last chapter that can give the green light to the departure, in the Albanian Eldoradon USA, of Albanians without visas. And this is what Ambassador Yuri Kim warns in her Twitter message.
Yuri Kim: Hoping for more in the coming years…
