The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said that by Saturday morning, 72,806,180 doses of COVID vaccine had been administered in the United States and 96,402,290 doses had been distributed.
Figures include vaccines from Moderna and Pfizer / BioNTech until 6 a.m. Saturday. Both Pfizer and Moderna vaccines require two doses of immunization.
The federal agency CDC said that as of Saturday morning 48,435,536 people in the United States had taken at least one dose, while 23,698,627 people had taken both doses. 7,043,540 doses have been made to care centers for the elderly and people with serious health problems, the agency said.
Vaccination rates are expected to accelerate with the expected adoption of a third vaccine that provides single-dose immunization.
