The Supreme Court has published the list with the names of Brunilda Kadi, Ilir Toska, Holta Zaçaj, Manjola Xhaxho and Tartar Bazaj to fill in the Constitutional Court the vacancy left by Gani Dizdari.
“The Deputy President of the High Court, based on article 125 point 1 of the Constitution and article 7 / ç of law no. 8577, dated 10.02.2000, “On the organization and functioning of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Albania”, as amended, on 15.11.2021 has made a public announcement for filling a vacancy in the Constitutional Court created after the departure of Mr. Gani Dizdari (full 9-year term) to be filled by the Supreme Court. After the end of the 30-day deadline for receiving applications from candidates, the following candidates have submitted a request to compete in this vacancy: 1. Brunilda Kadi; 2. Ilir Toska; 3. Holta Zaçaj; 4. Manjola Xhaxho; 5. Tartar Bazaj
Based on article 7 / ç, point 1 of law no. 8577/2000 “On the organization and functioning of the Constitutional Court”, (amended) the list of candidates, as well as the documentation submitted by them, have been sent to the Judicial Appointments Council, as the competent body for assessing the conditions and criteria for the appointment of judges in the Constitutional Court “, the High Court announced.
The Supreme Court has resumed the procedures for filling the remaining 3 vacancies in the Constitutional Court, members who must be elected from the ranks of the judiciary by this institution itself. One of the vacancies is that of Judge Vitore Tusha, whose 9-year term ended. Also vacant is the position of Fatmir Hoxha, who was fired in 2018, and Gani Dizdari, who was fired in 2019.
Currently the Supreme Court has 7 members, divided into 3 Colleges.
