The Sunny Hill Garden in the heart of Tirana, rebuilt from scratch after the earthquake collapse, has completed the investment trio through a donation from the State of Qatar, a contribution to the Reconstruction Program launched by the government in November 2019. On the second day of the visit to Albania of the delegation led by the General Director of the Qatar Development Fund, Khalifa bin Jassem Al-Kuwari, the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, also stopped at Kindergarten 42 in the capital, which has tripled its capacity by expanding with a nursery for the little ones of the Blloku area, and today offers modern conditions and spaces, for which a special contribution has the well-known Albanian singer of international fame Dua Lipa with her foundation “Sunny Hill Foundation”.
Mayor Veliaj has expressed special gratitude to the State of Qatar for the contribution given to the reconstruction of this Kindergarten, as well as the school “16 September” in Peza e Madhe, as well as another modern school “Lasgush Poradeci” in Kombinat.
A year ago it seemed like a dream that we could have the most beautiful kindergarten in Bllok, in the center of Tirana, that we could have a model school in Peza and that we could have a fantastic school like “Lasgush Poradeci”, in the center of Combine! But where people cooperate with each other, help each other, have their eyes on the finish and not on the ticks then we can do wonders and this is the example we had with colleagues from the Qatar Foundation, people who collaborate unnoticed small things, but focused on the big thing, “ said Veliaj.
He said that this new and modern investment benefits not only the families of the children who attend the kindergarten but the whole surrounding area.
“Today this community goes from 100 children that was yesterday to 250, that is, two and a half times more, but also in much better and much more spacious environments. So not only the community of those who bring the children here has won, but also the whole value of the palaces around, just as we said that palaces when they are near something beautiful that has value, especially a good garden, good nursery “A good school increases their value, too.” declared Veliaj.
The Mayor had a special thanks to the Fund and the people of Qatar for coming to Albania.
“I am very grateful to the people of Qatar! We have taken maximum care that things end on time and this school year catches us in Peza, Kombinat and Bllok with all these structures completed. Today is a very big step that has to be entered in public nurseries and kindergartens. Today public schools are getting better than private ones, like the one we saw in Kombinat. It means that the state, the government, the municipality together with the donors decide the quality first, we can do much better things and that is the fact today, “ he added.
The General Director of the Qatar Development Fund, Khalifa bin Jassem Al-Kuwari, for his part, assessed that the cooperation between the two countries will continue to grow.
“I am very happy that we had this two-day visit to Tirana, where we visited 3 educational institutions with international quality level. I am very happy that we had this cooperation with the Republic of Albania and the Municipality of Tirana and we had the opportunity to give the Albanian people the most beautiful gift, which is education for children and students. Certainly this contribution is a testament to the depth of relations between our two countries. Thank you very much Mr. President for the cooperation we have had and I can not wait to have other cooperation in the future and to show even more cooperation and brotherhood between the two countries and our peoples,He said.
