Tirana second in Europe in this year’s summer destinations, which brought back travel around the globe, after the long shutdown of the pandemic.
The 2022 travel outlook report by Forward Keys reveals that the Albanian capital is on the top list of the 10 most visited places for the third 3 months of this year, where Antalya is in first place for tourist resorts, while Tirana is second , leaving behind Mykonos, the island of adventure, or other magical destinations.
The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, who posted the report, highlights the fact that Tirana, even though it does not have exotic beaches, is among the most visited in Europe today.
“Listen, listen! Tirana is number 2 in Europe this summer and it’s not even an island, it doesn’t even have a sea,” writes Veliaj.
According to Forward Keys, the current preference for summer holidays is illustrated by a comparison of the top ten beach and urban destinations in Europe, ranked by flight bookings in the third quarter compared to 2019. The list is topped by Antalya, with an increase of 81%, Tirana 36%, Mykonos, 29%, while in the urban list the four main destinations are: Naples, Istanbul, Athens and Lisbon.
