The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj inspected today the works in the gymnasium ‘Sami Frashëri’. Veliaj said that the school will be ready to host the graduation ceremony for this year’s graduates in the new building, on its 60th anniversary.
Whoever had doubts, whoever hung on the railings to politicize the construction of “Sami”, of course today should see this masterpiece, which has come out even more beautiful than in the rendering. Our promise, in this 60th anniversary of the school “Sami Frashëri” is that the graduation ceremony will take place in the new building, and the school officially opens in September, with the new school year. I am very happy with how the works have progressed and it will really be a jewel, not only in the body of Tirana, but also in the fabric of education in Albania, “said the Mayor, Veliaj.
Starting from the presence of the teaching staff, Veliaj put forward the idea of remembering the generations of “samists”. With the director we are thinking of creating a club of ‘alumni’ who graduated from “Samiu”, even with these facilities, we can make a museum area. I believe I did my part for the school, but everyone who has taught at “Samiu” will have to give a hand, if he can. “If we think of different things politically, at least it should not hinder us,” he said.
Veliaj also noted the mobility facilities offered by road infrastructure, which further encourages the use of bicycles. The whole “Barricade Road” is being transformed. Look at the scaffolding and the work being done everywhere. We have a 9-year school just below, we have bike lanes. It is not put in a 4 × 4 car on “Rruga e Barrikadave”. This road, which at that time was really used for barricades, should now have more access for bicycle users. “I remember that in the ’90s the whole yard of’ Sami ‘had a bicycle parking lot, because it was more normal to come to school by bicycle,” he added.
