Vetëvendosje Movement blames the municipality of Prishtina for the failure to organize “Sunny Hill”

The assembly members of this opposition entity said that they are not against holding the festival in Prishtina, but against the procedures for granting municipal property to “Sunny Hill LLC”.

The assembly member of Vetëvendosje Movement in Prishtina, Gëzim Sveçla said that not completing the documentation and the tendency to put the blame elsewhere is mostly this failure.

“Our remarks are in three directions. The first issue was the procedural aspect, the second issue was the duration of the contract and the third issue was access to other festivals in the contract that was submitted to us. According to him, a request addressed to the MLGA for temporary use of the property would enable the festival to be easily held in Prishtina.

“It is unfair what is being done to the youth of our capital for the way it was decided to be transferred to Tirana, it could have happened in Prishtina as well. With a request to the Ministry of Public Services for temporary use this would have been regulated and the festival would have been held as in previous years. Enough time will be given to the municipality to prepare the necessary documentation for a long-term solution “he stressed.

While, his fellow party member, Nora Kelmendi, while mentioning which of the documents they tried in the session when the granting of municipal property for “Sunny Hill” was voted, stressed that the request for this property was from 2020 addressed to the former mayor of Prishtina, Shpend Ahmeti .

Further, she said that LVV is not against this festival, but against the procedures developed for the allocation of municipal property for “Sunny Hill LLC”.

“We as a group of Vetëvendosje Movement have only requested that the documentation for the lease of immovable property be in accordance with applicable law and have transparency in the entire process and decisions taken… We have never been against the festival and we have said that at the hearing and our remarks were only regarding the procedures developed in the commissioning of 99 years for ‘Sunny Hill LLC’, she expressed.

During today, the mayor of Prishtina, Përparim Rama, held a press conference on the issue of “Sunny Hill”, who blamed the Government of Kosovo for relocating this festival to Albania.
