Greek police have neutralized a 29-year-old man who threatened passers-by with an ax and a knife.
The incident took place in the Pagrati neighborhood of Athens, where according to the Greek police, the 29-year-old with Albanian citizenship was damaging the parked vehicles with an ax he was holding in his hand.
Rapid intervention police arrived in the area on 4 motorcycles. Initially, the 29-year-old, whose name is not made public, also threatened the police officers and then approached them with an ax in his hand.
The police kept calm and thanks to the quick intervention, they were able to disarm and neutralize the perpetrator.
He was taken to the Attica police directorate on life-threatening charges on duty, while he is expected to undergo a psychological test to see his psychological condition.
Authorities have opened an investigation to find out the reasons for the incident which could have almost turned into a crime scene.
