The capital of Austria, Vienna has been announced in a recent list as the best city to live, as it was closely followed by Copenhagen and Zurich in the annual list of the liberal network The Economist.
The list was dominated by European and Canadian cities, ranking nine of the top ten on the list known as the ‘2022 Global Liveability Index’.
One of the two cities outside of Europe and Canada was Osaka in Japan and Melbourne in Australia, which were again among the countries of Western ideology, writes the Daily Mail.
The Economist list ranked 172 cities according to a series of factors, according to which they were crime rate, political stability, infrastructure, green space or health care.
MailOnline did in the catalog of selected cities also counting as criteria museums and restaurants, architecture and hospitality.
Vienna with 1.9 million inhabitants stood at the top in 2022 even though a year ago it was in place of 15 of the drastic pandemic isolations and protests.
The city has already reopened its museums and restaurants which are accompanied by imperial architecture and magnificent palaces of culture and opera.
- Copenhagen, Denmark
Copenhagen also rose 13 places from last year’s list of strong points for infrastructure, education and stability, to a total of 98 points.
Denmark was one of the first EU countries to lift all restrictions on the pandemic by opening cultural events, bars and restaurants.
- Zurich, Switzerland
Zurich was ranked third in the index of the best cities to live with a score of 96.3
The middle-class city is quite rich and the authors said this was one of the reasons ksite performed well in the survey.
- Calgary, Canada
Calgary has risen from 18th to third place with a score of 96.3, according to the Daily Mail.
Here, too, the authors gave their points by removing the drastic restrictions of the pandemic that have allowed citizens to carry out their daily activities in a humane and natural way.
- Vancouver, Canada
Canada had three cities represented among the top 10 countries on the list of best cities and Vancouver is one of them with a score of 96.1.
Located on the west coast of Canada, Vancouver has the highest population in the country, albeit with the highest ethnic diversity index.
Osaka in Japan and Melbourne in Australia were ranked together in tenth place.
The capital of France Paris came 19th, also rising 23 places from last year.
The Belgian capital was 24th, after Montreal in Canada.
While London was the 33rd city in the world best to live while Barcelona and Madrid were ranked respectively 35th and 43rd.
